Fort Ross Vineyard and Winery Proprietors Linda and Lester Schwartz founded Fort Ross Vineyard in 1994 when they began preparing grassland at the top of a steep, windswept coastal ridge to plant to vines. This picturesque 52-acre single vineyard is a necklace of 32 small mountain blocks that range in elevation from 1,200-to 1,700 feet overlooking the Pacific Ocean. With Winemaker Jeff Pisoni at the helm, Fort Ross Vineyard and Winery strives to craft wines of purity and elegance that reflect the challenges of this extreme site through minimal winemaking intervention and dedicated micro-farming practices. The fruit that flourishes in this coarse atmosphere results in unforgettable wines, and this offering is no exception. Sourced from a single clone planted on the wineries Terraces Block, these 60 bottles were carefully crafted utilizing native yeast fermentation and a gentle but precise punch down regimen and will be bottled unfiltered and unrefined exclusively for the Sonoma County Barrel Auction.
